“Ankara holds the key for the solution of the Cyprus,
the key for achieving progress in the working groups,†the President of the
House of Representatives Mr Marios Garoyian stated yesterday. He added that the
interest of the international community must turned to Ankara, that pressures
should be directed there, so that that progress can be achieved in the working
groups and things can move forward, something that has not been done so far. In
his statements, after a meeting he had with a High-level Contact Group of the
European Parliament for Relations with the Turkish-Cypriot community, Mr
Garoyian said that in his view the international community supports Mr
Christofias handlings, his initiatives and his constructive moves that aim to
achieve developments so that this process, which is based on the 8th July
Agreement, may be able in the end to bring the desired results for the Cyprus
people as a whole. He further said that he had reiterated to the European
Parliament Group the firm willingness of the Greek Cypriot side to continue to
be constructive and creative in the direction of achieving progress in the
working groups, which would allow at a given time the start of overall
negotiations between President Christofias and Mr Talat with the aim to reunite
Cyprus and its people.
