EU
citizens do not require a visa for entry
to Cyprus,
but they must carry a valid passport
or their national identity card provided
there is a photo and the citizenship
is declared on the card. The passport
must be valid at least until the day
of departure from Cyprus.
Please note: Third country nationals, holders of a valid Schengen visa (type: single, double or multiple entry), who have already entered the Schengen area in accordance with the terms upon which their Schengen visa was issued, may travel to Cyprus without a Cypriot national visa and stay in Cyprus for a period equal to the remainder of the time for which the Schengen visa is valid. (It does not apply to holders of residence permit issued by Schengen state.)

A
valid passport with a visa is required for the nationals of all other
countries.
Non-compliance with the entry regulations will result in the deportation of the
passenger.
APPLICATION
FORM FOR A VISA TO ENTER CYPRUS
Basic
requirements for a visa:
If
visiting on business, an official letter
of invitation from a Cyprus company
must be presented, indicating the purpose
of travel.
If
visiting friends or family, a letter of
invitation from them with their full address,
phone number and occupation in Cyprus (and
often, along with a certified Assumption
of Responsibility
form, duly completed
and signed by the host). The Consulate may
also ask for a copy of a Bank Guarantee
Letter from the host, throughout a visitor's
stay in Cyprus, so as to cover the possible
cost of repatriation. Bank Guarantee Letters
are issued for the amount of:
- €
855 for visitors from Sri Lanka, the
Philippines, China, and other Asian
countries
- €
510 for visitors from the CIS and other
Eastern European countries
- €
350 for visitors from Syria, Lebanon,
Jordan, Egypt and other Middle East
countries.
If
visiting Cyprus as a member of a group (sports
team, choir, etc) a letter from the manager
indicating that the applicant is a member
of the delegation and that the management
assumes responsibility for the costs of
travel, accommodation and maintenance, if
such is the case

Important
Information:
1.
For entering the Republic of Cyprus a valid passport is required except for
holders of:
- Laissez-passer
issued by the United Nations. Nationals
of Egypt and Israel can enter Cyprus
with a laissez-passer provided they
hold an entry permit previously obtained
by the Immigration Department in Nicosia.
- Travel
documents issued by the Government of
the Republic of Cyprus to Cypriot nationals
- Documents
issued to stateless persons and recognized
refugees.
- Citizens
of the European Union countries, as
well as Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein
and Norway may enter Cyprus with their
national identity card provided there
is a photo and the citizenship is declared
on the card.

Passports of foreign nationals (except EU citizens), non-residents, must be valid three (3) months
beyond the period of intended stay. Passengers who wish to obtain a visa require
a passport valid at least 6 months beyond the period of intended
stay.
3.
Admission is refused to holders of "passports" issued illegally by the
occupation regime of the secessionist entity, so-called "Turkish Republic of
Northern Cyprus" ("TRNC" has been denied any international recognition and has
been condemned and declared as illegal by the whole of International Community
through Security Council Resolutions 541/83 and 550/84.) Other nationals whose
passports bear the stamps or visas of the so-called "TRNC" are allowed to enter
Cyprus after the above-mentioned visas/stamps are cancelled by the Immigration
Authorities of the Republic of Cyprus.
4.
Travellers entering the Republic of Cyprus
via the illegal/closed airports and ports
(i.e. all the airports and ports in the
occupied areas), may still face the consequences
of the Laws of the Republic. Therefore,
you are urged to travel via the recognised
ports of entry, so as to avoid any possible
problems (provided that a visa has been
granted to you). The legal ports of entry
into the Republic of Cyprus are the airports
of Limassol and Paphos and the ports of
Larnaca, Limassol, Latsi and Paphos, which
are situated in the area under the effective
control of the Government of the Republic
of Cyprus. Any entry into the territory
of the Republic via any other port or airport
in the area of Cyprus in which the Government
of the Republic does not exercise effective
control (Turkish occupied area) is illegal

Transit visas for a stay of up to 5 days in Cyprus are not required if the
holder is a citizen of a country mentioned in the A to V catalogue
above or if the holder is in possession of a visa or a residence permit issued
by an EU member state fully implementing
the Schengen acquis or any of the new
member states, provided that the case
is considered as bona fide and the holder
is in possession of an onward ticket
and visa for the country of destination.
Citizens
of other countries who are travelling from
one Third State to another Third State require
a transit visa to pass through the territory
of the Republic of Cyprus. This visa may
be issued for one, or excetionally several
transits, provided that the entry of the
alien into the territory of the destination
Third State is guaranteed and that the route
taken normally requires transit through
Cyprus.
The
applicant must be in possession of onward
tickets and visas for their country of destination.
6.
Those continuing their journey to a third country by the same or first
connecting aircraft within 24 hours without leaving the airport transit area
without actually entering the national
territory of Cyprus during a stop-over
or transfer between two stages of an
international flight, do not require
a transit visa, provided they hold confirmed tickets and other documents
required for their next destination.
Nationals
of the following third countries or
holders of travel documents
issued by these third countries are
however subject to a requirement to
hold an Airport Transit visa.
