The United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus has
announced that the heads of the technical committees and the working groups will
start their work on Friday 18 April. The UNFICYP press release which was issued
today states the following: "The representatives of Greek Cypriot leader
Demetris Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat have, after a
series of meetings, decided on the agendas of the six Working Groups and seven
Technical Committees agreed by the leaders at their meeting of 21 March. On
Friday 18 April, the heads of the committees and groups will start their work
following a brief ceremony in the United Nations Protected Area of Nicosia.
Acting Special Representative of the Secretary-General and head of the United
Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) Elizabeth Spehar will preside
over the event, which will feature brief statements from the representatives of
the leaders, George Iacovou and Ozdil Nami".
