Uttalande av Republikens President Demetris Christofias efter hans middag med den turkcypriotiske ledaren
The President of the Republic Mr Demetris Christofias, accompanied by his wife Mrs Elsi Christofia, attended a dinner yesterday evening hosted by the Turkish Cypriot leader Mr Dervis Eroglu and his wife Mrs Meral Eroglu at their residence in occupied Nicosia.
Leaving the Eroglu residence after the dinner, which lasted approximately two hours, President Christofias made the following statements to the press: “When I returned from the talks at noon they asked me ‘what will you do tonight with Mr Eroglu and his wife’ and I said we will have a pleasant evening in a joint encounter of the leaders of the two communities and we are surely trying to build a better relationship, which, in due course, will have a political impact with positive results in our effort. This happened tonight in a very warm atmosphere. I thank Mr and Mrs Eroglu for their warm hospitality and I intend very soon to reciprocate the dinner with my wife”.
The dinner was also attended by the Advisors of the leaders of the two communities Messers Iacovou and Ozersay and their spouses as well as by the UN Secretary-General’s Special Adviser for the Cyprus problem Mr Alexander Downer and his spouse.
